Inspired by Gandalf the Grey's staff from The Lord of the Rings films, this wand is one of my finest, with very fine detail in the handle creating the illusion of depth.
The Anglo-Saxon runes carved onto the handle read "endure."
Staining elevates this wand from good to stunning. The carvings themselves (created with a combination of knives and small gouges) do not go through the wood entirely, but different stain colors are used to create the illusion of depth. The very deepest recesses are colored black, while the parts closest to the surface are given various lighter shades of brown and red.
