Carving raised vines and leaves is simpler than you think.

Carving raised designs is a detail that can elevate even the simplest wand designs into something classy. For this wand, I started by rough cutting the shape of the vines, then removing the excess wood around them. Then I rounded out the edge of the vines, thinning them down a bit in places that were too thick, such as the places where the leaves and vines touch. Finally, I sanded everything down to a smooth finish.
